I'm thrilled to share that I have been awarded a grant from the Arts Council Wales' International Opportunities fund, to support a 4 week international art residency at Studio Kura in Japan.
For the month of April 2025, I will be living and sharing studios with 9 other international artists in Itoshima, a rural town in Fukuoka, Japan. I plan to develop my art practice and experiment further with wood cutouts, taking inspiration from local flora and fauna and recording daily life and observations through sketchbook practice. Additionally, I will research folk toys and local crafts and craftsmanship in the many museums around Fukuoka.
I will be presenting my work alongside the other international artists at an exhibition at the end of the residency in Fukuoka, with an artist talk in English, Japanese and Welsh.
This residency is made possible by the support of Arts Council Wales.
Diolch yn fawr iawn Celf Cymru am y cefnogaith 🌸
Thank you Arts Council Wales for your support 🙏
